There are some parts which can be lightened here and there and I'd love to add some downforce to the front and rear. Six new Hoosiers won at nationals are included four mounted and two rears in the box. Two sets of tires with low runs on them are mounted plus an oldish set of treaded rains. I'd like to recoup most of my investment if possible and move back to a milder car that I can make best use of with my not improving skills.Ĭar includes three extra sets of Real rims with tires mounted. I have concluded that I won't ever master it. However, I am 67 years old and although I ran a lot last year I never really mastered this car. The YC-3 is a pussycat around the pits, idling like a stocker, and with a mild clutch and the fat torque curve it is a piece of cake to launch like a rocket sled. The quick change allows it to be fine tuned for the course for optimal urge without getting into the rev limiters. It puts out about 250 hp at the flywheel with a lovely flat torque curve which makes it easy to launch. The pistons are now 13.5s vs last years 12.5 CR Mahle. We have rebuilt the motor with Brian Crower sportsman rods replacing the scats at 100 grams lighter per rod. Although others posted faster second day times they were unable to beat Jeff Cashmore's time on the aggregate. The engine let go at the end of the first run of the second day at Nationals last year. The clutch is a single disc racing clutch. The brakes all have willwood aluminum calipers and lightweight rotors. It is a Lotus 7 replica chassis CMC built with an Acura K20 A2 engine, a two speed Toyota Corolla tranny (3 and 4 plus R, 1 and 2 were taken off the shafts to save weight) and a Winters quick change circle trac rear end with at least 6 ratios available (change gearing in 15 minutes). It is a six time national champ with Cashmore driving, two runner ups as well when various problems intruded, three Ladies championships at the hand of Denise Cashmore and too many national tour victories and podiums to list. It would make a great race car for someone just getting started and for a veteran racer. It is pretty much ready to go racing, I just never had the time to do so. It has only been owned by mechanics its whole life, so it has always been well kept.
I have driven it around my neighborhood a couple of times and it ran smooth. The car itself has very low miles on it, 65,150. The clutch and transmission are still in great shape nice smooth shifts. As seen in the photos there is a small amount of damage to the left front, but I have a brand new fender to be put on. There are performance coilover shocks and springs (Not Spec Miata). The chassis is still in great shape and clean. I just put brand new seat belts in it and bought a new window net for it. I bought it to race it, but could not find the time to do so, so I am selling it. It stills runs great and is in great shape. I bought it off the first owner, who raced it for a few years, but then stopped racing for a while. This car has spent about its whole life as a race car, although it has not been raced in about 20 years. (This wouldn't let me attach photos, but I am more than willing to send over everything I have.)
